Workshop Description: 

(Film Co-op Members are required to take at least one screenwriting course before they direct/produce their own dramas through the Film Co-op)

Whether beginner or advanced, this workshop will discuss story shape, structure and style for the screen and the ways a writer can conquer each, no matter genre, length or medium. The workshop will primarily focus on scene and character construction, how each fits into narrative theory, and the best ways to format your writing on the page.

Instructor's Biography: 
Ed McNamara most recently served as a consulting producer on the feature Jazz Hands, as well as writer and producer on Friends Like Us, which was nominated for Best Short at the Directors Guild of Canada awards. A graduate of the Canadian Film Centre’s Writer’s Lab, he has worked as a writer in both Toronto and LA, a story editor for some of Canada’s top producers and distributors and as a reader and script consultant for Telefilm Canada, the Harold Greenberg Fund, the Ontario Media Development Corporation and CFC Features. For years he ran development and business affairs at Skyfarm Entertainment and worked before that in industrial relations for the Canadian Media Producers Association.
