Workshop Description:

(Film Co-op Members are required to take this workshop before they direct/produce their own projects through the Film Co-op)

It's hard to provide a brief job description for a Production Manager so it's important to talk about it all! Of course numbers are a big part of the job, but equally so is hiring a team, collaborating with a crew, breaking down a script, searching for those "red flags" and of course budgeting, cost reporting & money management. Bring your stories and ideas (big and small) to this workshop! The best way to learn is talking through real world experiences and problem solving together. The seasoned instructor will provide lots of hands-on examples and templates so that the participants can leave the workshop with the tools needed to take that next step towards producing their creative visions.

Instructor's Biography:
Melani is a Producer of Documentary and Branded Content Films. In 2015 Melani was one of eight recipients in Canada to be granted the Hot Docs: Documentary Channel “Doc Accelerator” scholarship, an opportunity to develop documentary projects with the support and guidance of established Producers. She also has seasons of experience production managing TV shows including the History Channel’s “The Curse Of Oak Island”. Inspired by a desire to learn, travel and meet people who are following their passions, Melani continues to follow her own dream of sharing worthwhile and encouraging films with the world. “Invading Giants” is Melani’s most recent film, which premiered at Hot Docs International Documentary Film Festival in 2017.
